Sarah Mitchell

Children and teenagers are constantly learning how to understand themselves while navigating school, friendships, family relationships, expectations, and emotions that can sometimes feel much bigger than the words available to describe them.

I work with children, adolescents, young adults, and families experiencing anxiety, ADHD, school-related stress, emotional regulation difficulties, and challenges with confidence or self-esteem. My goal is to create an environment where younger clients feel respected and comfortable enough to be themselves rather than feeling as though therapy is another place where an adult is evaluating them.

Sessions may include conversation, creative activities, skill building, problem solving, and practical strategies tailored to a client’s age and interests. For children and teens with ADHD, we may work on organization, frustration tolerance, routines, impulse control, or understanding why certain situations consistently become difficult. For anxiety, we focus on recognizing the body’s alarm system and gradually building confidence in handling uncomfortable thoughts and situations.

When appropriate, I also collaborate with parents. Supporting a child often means helping the adults around them understand what is happening and finding ways to respond that reduce conflict while encouraging growing independence.

Every young person brings different strengths to therapy. I try to make sure those strengths remain visible even when a family is seeking help because something has become difficult.
